Depending on what actually happened, you may have luck with recovery tools, or you may have the trouble with write-cached IDE drive under W2K (and maybe NT4 as well, not sure). For some reason, .sct files are treated as specially dangerous because .sct is also an extension for some script files. Somewhere in the OS it happen these files are not properly flushed to the disk on OS shutdown, you get a file with a few kilobytes of zero bytes instead of its original content. This can be easily cured by turning the write caching off (at least before shutdown), but the trouble is the OS always restores the setting after each reboot.
Another solution is to rename your forms' extension to something else ending in x - modify form frm1.zcx produces two files, frm1.zcx and frm1.zct - which is not affected with this OS bug. The problem is you have to do more work in the project manager, as it may or may not recognize these files as forms.
