It all depends on what kind of transactions the users make. If mainly for DS (Decision support) in which the number of reads far exceeds the number of writes, there should not be too many problems with 100+ users (concurrent ?). However if the nature of the applications is OLTP (OnLine Transaction Processing) a lot of network contention could arrise and blocking other processes.

Anyways, you should carefully design your system. You should avoid holding filelocks, and keep the time of a lock limited to the time needed to write actions (thus not locking records to give users the time to edit the record).
