>As an aside - since we're in non sequitor territory - I'm having trouble understanding what XP is. Is it the upgrade from W98? I thought that was what W2K was. I've been having all kinds of problems since I upgraded earlier this year to 2K and wondered if I would be better off with XP. Any thoughts?

Renoir,
W2K is the next version of Windows NT. Windows ME is the version that followed Windows 98 (and Win ME should generally be avoided, I think). The Windows NT/2000 line is targeted toward businesses; Win95/98/ME line toward home users (and perhaps small businesses). Windows XP is supposed to be the merging of the two lines, using Windows NT type technology. But then, just to keep everyone on their toes, their will be a Windows XP Professional (for business users) and a Windows XP Home Edition. I assume that the professional version is a superset of the Home Edition, although the MS Website is not clear on this point.
As far as wondering about Win XP solving all problems (and making a perfect user experience)...Microsoft has been making bold claims for every version of Windows they have released. Don't get me wrong, I think we have come a long way since the Windows 3.0 days. But the process seems to be more evolutionary than revolutionary at this point.
My 2 cents,
