>Well I finally got to see it. Station here shows it at 12:05 AM on Sunday morning. So I taped it and watched it Sunday afternoon. My thoughts are:

>Did I like it totally? No. I think the shower scene and the talk of three breasted aliens were not needed. The language was OK to me as I would think early on the Starfleet people were going to be rough around the edges. The action and special effects were excellent. The occasional infusion of funny lines was great. I also like the fact that they make mistakes with new technology (running into the ship with the space shuttle), it makes it more believable.

>Bottom line is that I think the feeling of starting out in space exploration was exciting and conveyed really well. I was very excited also about seeing that first ship get out of space port and on its way, which is what they were really trying to get across.

I got to see it last night too. I liked it. Alot. I didn't like the profanity. The only one I didn't hear was the "F" word, thankfully. The shower scene was illogical and out of place. No sterilization of their heads, hair, feet, or parts of the body concealed by clothes. The rest of the show was PRIMO! Scott Bakula and Jolene Blalock did a great jobs, presented strong characters with interesting interpersonal dynamic. Watching them delvelop through the season will be interesting. Dr Phlox (john Billingsly) did a marvelous job and is a great character! The ship is great, not to high techie.
I enjoyed it tremendously. But, the Vulcan's had to arrive at Earth using warp technology, so I am assuming that they didn't help (the show suggests they hindered development of the warp drive) humans develop the technology. I hope some of that confusion is cleared up in subsequent stories.

I plan to watch it tonight, again!

A side note: Warp 4.5 - Earth to Neptune in back in 6 minutes. Assuming the planets were at closest proximity, that time would require a speed that is 87 times faster than light. A trip from Earth to Centuri Proxima would take 2.5 weeks. A trip to Bernard's Star would take 12 weeks. Warp 4.5 has to be faster than 1.7 light years per week. Adding 360 million miles to that trip to adjust for a far side trip wouldn't make much difference. I hope they clear up the speed problem.
