I agree with both Bob and Bob :0) If you want to do the majority of the coding yourself, go with VooDoo controls (they are really great). However, if you want to publish on the web quickly and allow for fast updates and data-driven apps, then West Wind Connections is the way to go. West Wind also has some 'shell apps' to get you started. I'm sure everyone has their favorite way of accomplishing this, but I think you can download demos of both from their web sites. I'd check them out before you decide anything. I forgot to mention to also check into the support provided by both - I'm not sure what type of support Voodoo has (it may be great), but I know that West Wind has a forum that is available 24/7 and many developers are on it continuously and help each other out.
