There's a bug which will bleed the shape's color to the background color of some unselected controls - I've experienced that with listboxes and combos. The easiest way to check this is to set your shapes to some weird color and see if your textboxes get the same color.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have some shapes and that appears to be where the strange behavior is coming from. I have just loaded VFP7 on my machine. So far I have not seen the behavior yet but have only had it running for about 1/2 hour.
