It might be intermittent if, say, the DESC field is NULL, or possibly if it is selected in a certain order and is, for example, the last field in the select (...and the value is null). I've had a look at some of my own code where I use DESC as a field-name but couldn't reproduce the error, even when the field-name was NOT qualified, so perhaps the error is linked to your data.

It was consistent. I mean without changing anything in the SQL clause that sometimes it generates a SQL with the field name and sometimes with EXP_1.
