I'm not sure what the reasoning is but I've been told it's better to use NET.CFG instead of SHELL.CFG. Also the FILE HANDLES= line should be higher than 30. Netware default is 30 and that's where Francisko is erroring out. Also, in the AUTOEXEC.BAT you must be in the directory of NET.CFG when loading network drivers for the NET.CFG file to load like this:

cd\net
ipx
netx
cd\

IPX, NETX and NET.CFG are all in the \NET directory.

NOTE: TO Universal Thread gurus. If this question isn't already in the FAQ section I would suggest putting it there. This is the third or fourth time I've seen and answered this question. Sounds like a common situation people, myself included, have run into.
