Hi!

Take a look to the SET MEMOWIDTH, use it before creating teh VFP table with memo field, though I do not think that it can help.

I'm woondered, WHAT you're storing in the memo fields that cause so large FPT file just after 2,600 records, when FPD file can store 50,000 records? Are you sure everything is correct when you cope these data? 2GB is a REALLY large text file...

>>Did you tried "PACK" command over your table? This command not only remove records marked for deletion, but also allows to pach the FPT file content by removing gaps (unused space) in it. There is and option "MEMO" that allows you to run PACK without touching of records marked for deletion )if you use them in production).

The error occured around record 2600 of over 50,000 so even if I pack the memo file I dont think I can stay within the 2MB limit. I was hoping there was a 'set' command or something to get around this limitation.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
