I've opened an incident with Microsoft (Brad Peterson) and it seems that the mysterious SYS(1104) command added in VFP6 SP3 has an effect. Brad was able to call a similar select statement in a loop and have it crash on the 29th iteration every time. Calling SYS(1104) solved his problem and seems to have an effect on mine, but I can still repro it occasionally. I'll be moving the SYS(1104) around in the code to see if I can kill it permanently. I'm also going to try compiling/running with VFP 7.
