Some things to check.
1. Remove and reinstall the client & service packs. Ensure that all registery entries are removed. The Novell KB tells how to do this. The client install looses the plot sometimes.
2. Remove anything to do with MS networking, as this also causes problems.
3. Use one protocol i.e. TCP/IP or IPX not both. This can also cause problems.
4. Was the Server rebooted after SET CLIENT FILE CACHING was set to off.
5. If the problem is only on one segment check for some rights issue in NDS.
