I try to do remote com ( no problems with com at one computer)
I faced few problems
1 vbr file have two lines HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\servvv.serv=
and progid being empty for my class serv . I wrote these values myself
I was not sure for my project and took 2 from foxtalk, same problem.
2 When I ran autmgr32 at some computers, it just ran OK without any prompts.
At 2 computers after running it it hangs window with prompt text alarm,
there are two answers yes/no
Does not matter , what I respond, autmgr32 is thrown out with error messsage-
the program did not predictable action and addresses map.
I pretty sure, that autmgr32 is same versions at computers , where it works and where it fails. There are no any help file for this or others files.
I made setup for my server com and included in it autmgr32 from 'good' computers, it also did not work.
Remote com does not work without it and client says- rpc service on remote computer was failed.
I came to 2 nearest companies and asked permission to test it there.
and did find there 2 ( from 10) and 4 ( from 9) computers with same trouble.
I compared all lines in winsetup conserning ip protocols at 'good' and 'failed'
computers and did not find any difference.
At one nt computer command servvv /regserv gave me message wrong VFP resource file.
I have spent 2 hours to eliminate all traces of old VFP libraries before it started to work
It was very easy to make crush of clients just for 'good' server computers, just closing automgr32 at servers. It did not checked for connected clients, closed and clients failed.
Any hints, is it reliable remote com technology or just new MS advertisment. We have lots of clients in different towns and if I can not do it reliable here at home how could I do it reliable for our remote clients.
