Fox2x DOS is not that much memory hungry. It performs quite well with settings like up to 8Mb. You might set it :
MEMLIMIT=60,4096,32768

However that might not be the cause for slowdown. There are a lot of reasons. ie: If on a network, network cabling, editwork,sortwork,progwork setting. Being in a window or full screen etc.
