Christmas carols as prayer – brings me back to my college days. There are several types of Christmas carols I recognize three types of which I will describe below. Of course the concept of Christmas was established by Christians. Not everyone believes in the meaning of Christmas and the concept is offensive to specific religions. However there is an entity that is very dependent upon Christmas and cares little or in some cases nothing about it as a symbol of religion.

There is a difference between Christmas carols depending upon where they derived.

(1). Those Christmas carols from European Christian areas other than Spain are very solemn and typically lack joy. Gee, and this is a joyous occasion? Sounds like the prudes got into the act!

(2). Now in Spain, they sing Christmas carols called “villancicos”, which are full of life and celebration. I play flamenco guitar (amongst other types of music and instruments) and love to play these types of pieces.

(3.) And that leaves the last definition of Christmas carol of this post, which is based upon “free enterprise”. Yes, the most important type of Christmas carol of all.
