I would stick to Novell Client on a Novell network (for security as well as functionality reasons). Did you install the latest Netware client for W2K? You can switch back to the NT gui login though without uninstalling the netware client by doing the following:

1. Make a backup of your current NWGINA.DLL (novell's version) in the \winnt\system32 directory unto a FLOPPY DISKETTE just in case.

2. Put a copy of the W2K MSGINA.DLL into c:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 (this is the actual gui login) (It may still be in your system32 directory, but not being used yet until you do step 3 below)

3. Change the registry value for HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\GinaDLL FROM NWGINA.DLL to MSGINA.DLL

4. Add the Microsoft client service for netware to the local connection properties.

UPDATE: Also, the Novell gui login will appear after the MSFT login unless you also follow the steps in the below link:

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10054281.htm

The following registry keys must be changed to have the following values to prevent the Novell GUI Login from displaying during bootup:

key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

value:
[string] GinaDLL = "MSGINA.DLL"

The default set for this value during the Novell Client installation is "NWGINA.DLL".

key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\Network Provider\Initial Login

value:
[string] Login When NWGina Not Loaded = "no"

This default for this for this value during the Novell Client installation is "yes"..

The CLIEN4.BMP file used for the Novell Splash Screen is embedded in the NOVNPNT.DLL and cannot be removed safely from this file. However, the Novell Client Splash Screen can be disabled by creating the following registry value:

key:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetwareWorkstation\Parameters

value:
[dword] NoLogoDisplay = 1

This value does not normally exist. It does not really matter what this value is set to, the Client code only checks for the EXISTENCE of this value. If it does exist (no matter what the value is), it will NOT display the Splash Screen bitmap. If it does not exist it WILL display the Splash Screen bitmap.
