There is not easy solution to this situation. If all the class stands to recite the pledge and one child remains seated he/she still stands out. And, because they do not understand, children can be very mean spirited.
By-the-way, as an aside, I believe it was during WWII that the Supreme Court declared that a child cannot be forced to recite the Pledge (My Consitutional history is rusty so I hope this is correct.) under the First Amendment.
