Our backup people here indicate that if a table is in use it cant be backed up. So what you can do is have a process that copies your own data to a backup area before your backup is run. What I mean by copy your data is to open the database and go through every table inside and creating a backup copy of its schema at that point in time. Then open the newly created table and append data from the original table. Once you have all the tables done then those can be backed up.
