Check out www.openwiki.com. It is a free asp-based wiki that can use sql-server, access, or just about any other database engine. It takes all of 10 minutes or so to setup. If you ever wanted to have your own personal wiki, here is the best deal in town. How it scales - I don't know about that. For personal use however, I think it does the trick. I like it because you don't have to explictely fire up any extra software. All you need is IIS, MSXML, and a database. I am using the Wiki for my law school work and I find it to be invaluable!

Also, there is a new book called The Wiki Way by Ward Cunningham and Bo Leuf. This book discusses the ins and outs of how wikis work and the fundamentals of the architecture. It too ships with a wiki, but it is perl-based and a PITA to install and read. Oddly enough, while all the languages that Wikis have been implemented were mentioned, there was no mention of VFP. That is a shame because I think the Fox wiki is one of the best implementations out there. Certainly, it is the most feature rich wiki in existence. Compared to Perl and ASP implementations, VFP brings OO to the table. And, Fox brings its awesome string handling capabilities to the table as well. In the book, Cunningham cites that Per's string manipulation abilities was but one reason he chose perl. I wonder if anybody has every stacked VFP's ability in this area against Perl?

I posted these items on the wiki yesterday and they mysteriously disappeared? I figured that would have been the better place since those who visit the wiki would be more inclined to use a personal wiki. I guess the limits of what one can post on the Fox wiki are a bit more narrow than I orignally had thought...< s >... FWIW, the openwiki has about a 10th. of the features the Fox wiki has. At the same time, openwiki has more features than Ward's wiki at http://c2.com/cgi/wiki. Simply put, it was not my intention to offend anybody. Rather, I was simply letting the community know about a resource that is available to all..

I have since re-posted the items to the wiki. Let's see if these posts manage to survive.....
