I think it is very hard to predict what is going to happen or not, including whether the conflict will end up as WW3 or not. It seems that the governments of most countries are against Al Qaeda & Taliban, but the population of the selfsame countries, that is quite a different issue, at least in some cases. There might conceivably be civil war within several countries.
