Do you mean that mstatus is defined as a *property* of the form, or that you've created a variable in the form's init using the PUBLIC command (ie, "PUBLIC mstatus")?

If it's not a property, I could see that causing a problem. Also, you might look for a typo of "m.status" instead of "mstatus" (the dot makes vfp think you're looking at a memory variable called 'status' instead of your property).
