Low Level I/O?

Hi,

By a number of cleanup operations, I have finally lost all my old FPD26 code, as well as assembler code.

I wouldn't mind so much, except I just have been asked to write a program to receive data from a blood-testing apparatus.
I have done this before, and with my old code, I could easily have done the job.

Now, I have to start from scratch. I used to write the low-level I/O functions in assembler, and somehow linking the compiled code to my FPD26 program.

VFP has a few low-level functions, but they seem to require that you know beforehand how many bytes to be received.
Does anything exist that can be used, so that I can be spared the trouble of creating a suitable COM port interface?

An interrupt-driven program would of course be very nice, but after 20 years, my interrupt capability is rather rusty.

Any suggestions?

Rolf
