I think the DBC only contains relative paths to the tables. IOW, if you keep the DBC in the same directory structure as the tables, you won't have a problem. If you store the DBC on a different drive than the tables, you could get bit.

IOW, if your development system has the same relative paths as production, then you won't have problems. Of course, you would back up the production DBC before trying this, and you should test it out in a test environment first.

Hopefully someone will concur or disagree with my assessment.
