>>After my grid appears with all the data, 6 columns worth, the 6th column is only displayed a fraction. The user has to click and drag it to the right to expand it so it's all visible. Is there a property associated with this feature?

If you're adding the grid's datasource on the fly, then it will have automatic widths and there's nothing much you can do about it, except for programmatic adjustment of the widths, like calculating the overal width of the columns, comparing that with the width of the grid (minus the width of the scrollbar, record mark and the delete mark) and shrinking all the columns proportionally.

There appears to be plenty of room as is, even for a column or 2 more. It's just that i HAVE TO CLICK AND DRAG THE VERT COLUMN LINE TO THE RIGHT TO REVEAL THE 6TH's COLUMN'S CONTENTS.
