I've had another thing, if it may help. There was a system with some 40
users, and ocassionally there was a need to distribute system messages.
The users were doctors who worked with varying schedules (not same time
of day or even week), so I've combined the LogIO table (who logged in,
when, where) and the message table, which had just a timestamp and memo
with text. Simply checked for new messages since the last login and
shown them.
