Nadya,

I've developed a generic search tool that offers different search capabilities. The user interface is based on a form that contains two grids that appear to be one. The top grid contains the field headings and 1 row in which the user can enter the search criteria. The second grid below displays the search result. Initially, the result grid displays all the records. The grid is built dynamically based on the underlying table/cursor. Here are some of the features:

- fuzzy search when phdBase is available
- wild card search
- traditional xBase comparison (field=value)
- optionally, user can enter any valid VFP expression

There are some additional features such as incremental search in the result grid, reordering by clicking on the header, cached search results (user can scroll back/forward through result sets), etc.

I hope this gives you some ideas.
