First, foxpro wouldn't do that. Second, NEVER specify work areas in your code. It makes the code unreadable and hard to maintain. Instead tell foxpro to open the tables in the first free area
USE mytable ALIAS tbl1 IN 0
USE mytable2 ALIAS tbl2 IN 0
and later reference the tables only by there aliases in the code.
