>>>I recently downloaded the shareware version of Visual Extend 3.5. Unfortunately, the only documentation I can find for it is written in German. I did go to the Devigus web site but it wasn't there either. I then e-mailed the company but they replied that they no longer supported this version and sent me the documantation for version 5.0. The only result was that this message hosed my e-mail system.

>>I am sending directly to your e-mail address a note with an attached file -- man_350.zip (approx 650K). This is a zipped version of the Visual Extend 3.50 manual -- actually an MS-Word document. The other item you may want is the Windows help file. Devigus also has a few .AVI files showing some basic procedures -- like setting up parent-child forms.

>Thanks,

Bill,

I will e-mail you the help file. Adding all the .avi files makes it into a v-e-r-y big upload. Can I suggest that you download the latest help file from the Devigus web site. If you look under Visual Extend - Download, you will find a link for the technical reference files (the help file plus (I assume) the .avi files). While these will be for the latest version of Visual Extend, I am assuming that the bulk of the materials in the file will be the same.

The tutorials section in the Technical Reference help file has some good info on customizing VE. The place I feel that their docs are weakest is in the overview/relationships area. You have to figure out how it works by working up from the details. (I heard Jim Booth give a talk the other night -- he talks about the "contracts" between the different objects in the framework -- this is an area where Devigus' documentation is not of too much help.)

I'll be curious to hear your reactions to the product and documentation after you get into it more.

Steve
