An over-simplification to be sure, Craig!

There is an ever-growing movement to either reduce the pace/rate of change or to consolidate more of it so that learning it doesn't require learning 17 different things to achieve one end.

There is also a growing movement to keep leading edge stuff in the sandbox until it is proven.

These trends, in fact, may ultimately do more for VFP's continued development than other factors.
