VFP probably uses INT21h for locking across NETBios and unless the Samba installation fully supports that you could well have these problems. Thanks for the advice. I will check this out first thing Monday and I will try a post on the Linux site.

FYI we are using FoxBASE (not U2.6). I use Code Write for the editor which acutally works very well (such as it is... ugh).
