Yes, you're right, but both my VFP5 Language Ref and the VFP6 Hel actually says
Function FOPEN() opens file or commport, and says

cFileName: Specifies the name of the file or communications port to open.'

Well, I checked the sample pointed at by Sergey, and it worked straight away.

But, I wonder if you could point at some sample code that might be useful for me to learn a little more about how to do it?
