I had in mind a typical desk top application but using Web Service(s) to do much of what would otherwise be 'resident' in the workstation code. On a LAN with lots of concurrent users with sub-second response expectations.

Yes, playing can be fun, but it doesn't necessarily "answer" much of the unknowns. Works well for how to do something, for sure.
