I think Ken learned something very valuable here. He learned that he can candidly say something fundamentally true, and that people will stretch this statement into whatever take they feel like conjuring. Moreover, they'll press their particular takes to absurd extents simply because they have the time to defend it.

John, individual takes have little to do with your name and your reputation. You've defended this take as if people might believe you're a raving bobo if you didn't. John, takes are cool. What's not cool is taking it personally when takes get stale.

What's also not cool is selectively reviving one of hundreds of past takes -- taking VFP out of the VS box, for example -- and holding it up like the son of Nostradamus. But that's another story...
