When FoxPro populates the report for data, if a point is reached where the remainder of the record will not fit on the page, a page break is sent to the printer, which is *exactly* what's happening with my report. It seems, so far, that there is *NO* way around this, which seems strange, due to the complexity and flexibility of FoxPro.

>>>I've tolerated the report writer up to now because the users are happy to print everything on paper. But I believe in the ideal of the paper-less office. The report writer, which is good for nothing but printing on paper, doesn't deserve to be the standard vfp output medium. We need a flexible tool that will put data in a user-specified format to Word or Excel or some other file format in common use (maybe even acrobat). I don't know about any third party report writers, except for GenRepoX, which doesn't do this, last time I checked.

Too bad I did not know this existed before. One of my past projects allowed for custom reports, in which I automated the process of modifying the report writer data files (at run-time) to fine-tune the layout to conform with the operator's menu options!

That's what I'm going to do, when I get around to it. I would like to see some tool, like a visual class, which is as flexible as the report writer but takes care of automating Word or Excel and formatting the output. As it is, any class I make for getting data into MSOffice is likely to format the data for a specific report, and have to be re-written for other reports.
