>>Well, then we sing 'secular' or pagan songs, both of which have religious origins then?
>
>So you believe that _every_ song has religious origins? Funny, I remember learning lots of songs in school that had nothing whatsoever to do with religion. One that comes to mind as I look out my window on gorgeous colors is:
>
>Crunchy, crunchy is the sound
>of the leaves upon the ground.
>Crunchy, crunchy goes the noise
>Made in leaves by girls and boys.
>
>Learned that one in Kindergarten or first grade. We sang lots of songs that had nothing to do with religion or with "the supremacy of man."
I still recall fondly this one from elementary school:
A Frog Went A-Courtin'
Frog went a courtin' and he did ride, uh-huh
Frog went a courtin' and he did ride, uh-huh
Frog went a courtin' and he did ride
With a sword and a pistol by his side, uh-huh uh-huh uh-huh
The only relgious reference I could find was that Bob Dylan sang it on one of his more obscure albums and I believe he once wrote a song title, "With God on Your Side." :-)
