Southern Indiana. Take a look at
http://www.indcanal.org/ It was the Wabash and Erie canal that kept that song in our schools for quite some time. As for Goober Peas my best guess it came from Civil War times, but was also sung in our school for some time. I dont think they sing it any more. You can see the versus of it at
