>Actually, I think that employee-owned business is probably the desirable form, which should prevail in some distant future. At the last phase (after Tito's death and before the wars) there was some campaign for a "socialism with a human character", but it was too late. "Capitalism with a human character" would be better, IMO, as it would bring more justice and reward the work well done.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm sick of many small businesses being 'merged' into giant monopolies with CEO and upper level management taking home multi-million/year salaries. Health insurance is heading the same way: high priced CEO's increasing rates, decreasing services and justifying the rip offs by using 'doctors' who do dianosis at long distance without ever seeing the people they condem to poor health and death. Banks have gotten that way in recent years. The bank we did business with for 20 years was bought out, bought out again and again. Most folks got laid off, branches were closed, services eliminiated and fees escalated. We had to call Minniapolise from here in Lincoln to learn our account balances or discuss transactions, and even then we were on hold for long periods of time. We dropped them and moved to a locally owned bank. As best as I can do it I am doing business only with locally owned firms now, Walmart and SAMS not withstanding. By the way, the VISA CEO drew 33 Million last year. On the internet site of my Discover card they listed the average annual interest rate for certain transactions at 42.7%, which is twice what is legal in Nebraska.
