Suggestion for you...
I have done this before using the dos based utility which used to come with DOS 6.1 & others MSD.exe
It has a couple of command line parameters, one of them is silent and the other outputs to a specified file
The new version of this is called WinMSD but I don't know if this has the same command line parameters
You can put this into a login script and get it to write the file out to a specific folder with the users login name
