Dodi,

You didn't say what OS is running on the 'server'.

When you say "across the nation", what method is used to access your application?...dial-up?

In any case, I would say that that "server" is underpowered and likely endowed with 'vintage' hardware.

As minimums I would say 233mhz processor; 256meg RAM; hard drive(s) of reasonable average access times, in the neighbourhood of 8-10ms.

You can put together a system with 900+mhz processor, 512meg RAM, a big and fast HD or 2 for around $1000.

If your application is accessed via dial-up then you should supply more information about the application. Basic DESIGN is far more critical in such an application than it is for a LAN accessed app.

good luck

I did some research on UT and found one suggestion to look at the anti-virus software. I had the system network people look at the server and then I learned that the server is very old, 133 CPU with 160MB memory, C drive (2 GB with 1.4GB free) and D drive (6.3 GB with 2.9GB free). What are the optimal system requirement for an application written in VFP 6.0 with average of 200,000 records accessed by approximately 10 users across the nation?
