I don't remember the details now, but I do remember that clicking the preview pane does something like rerunning the data environment.

It also can screw up private data sessions. If your report is set to the default data session, but called from a private data session, it works fine for the first page, but it reverts to data session #1 instead of the DS it was start in when someone clicks on it. Trying to switch data sessions inside it crashes VFP.
