You can create Remote Views inside your Database and then just access
those views as if they were tables (almost).

You might need to install the appropriate drivers on the systems that will be using your reports.

Step 1 - Create a Data Source for your external database
Step 2 - Create a connection to that data source inside the database
Step 3 - Create your remote view inside the database
