Not sure how involved your GUI is, but you might be able to hack the SCX (or VCX is it's a class) and just change values in a couple fields to change the command buttons to shapes. You will need to remove methods and properties that you used for your command buttons and are not available for shapes. Of course, if there aren't that many of them, it would probably be easier to just use the designers.
