>>>>>I'm trying to convert a VFP 3.0 app to VFP 5.0a. When I try to generate a menu, the whole VFP session is blown away. I made a new menu with only one item, generated it and the same happened. Then I tried a "quick menu" with no changes, generated it, and the session was blown away again. I haven't found anything in help or at Microsofts site (yet); does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

>>>Yes, that's what's happening (at least to my eyes). I'll pull out my CD and recopy genmenu like you said.

Should I (1) recopy my old VFP 3.0 code to the 5.0 directory (the 2 versions are in different directories) and try again or (2) reinstall VFP 5.0a, (3) both, or (4), is there something else I've overlooked.

>How are you generating the menus? Does the same thing happen when you create one in an otherwise empty project?

The first menu I copied from my VFP 3.0 app. For the second I selected "Other" from the project manager and added a new one by hand that matched the first. The third I added the same way with only one item. The fourth I created with the "quick menu" feature. To generate them, I selected menu from the FoxPro menu bar, then generate.

No I haven't tried this in am empty project, I'll do that as soon as I can put away this (shudder) VB application I'm working on.

Mechanic just called, at least my broken car is ready (until next week)
