Oh well, my only other clever idea is too write a program that fake normalizes the database. If the field names have some consistent pattern you can copy structure extended into a table and ceeate a memory variable that is a list of fields which you can then play with using SQL like the other guy suggested. In fact you could use the same idea to make a normalized copy of the database but it would eat up a lot of processing time so maybe you just have to type away.
