I've talked with Doug about this, and he's basically decided that since it would take longer to verify the tags than recreate them (especially in VFP native code), SDT will just recreate them. The only index checking that SDT does is to check whether the index file header information matches the meta data, so if the corruption is in the header or one or more of the tags' expression has changed, then a recreate will take place.
