Current cost for a used copy of Mac VFP 3 (the latest available and no longer supported by MS) is about 2 grand. It seems that some folks still feel its a preferred solution for the Mac (can you say speed?).
There are a variety of issues:
VFP 3/VFP 6 or 7. Features, and particularly subtle differences in event handling in the interface.
PC/Mac. Different interface issues, file location specification.
You didn't say whether this was Mac only or mixed environment. Developing in a a cross platform app for a mixed environment is significantly more complex than developing a standalone Mac app, where you don't have to worry about making behavior consistent between the two.
Data handling is pretty consistent between both platforms.
However, as your interface requirements become more sophisticated, the complexity of developing in a cross platform environment goes up enormously.
MSDN has an entry on managing a cross-platform project.
I guess that's a way of saying "look before you leap."
