Tom,
Yes, this is the National Institute of Standards and Technology. They hold an ebook conference annually, and its one of the biggest, most important ebook conferences. Check out
http://www.itl.nist.gov/div895/ebook2001/ for more info.
I'm a speaker at this year's conference, speaking on managing royalties in the ebook world (which is what my software does). There will be several other speakers, prominent and not. There will be a lot of talk about where ebooks are going, including a talk by the folks at E-Ink, the ones that make the "digital paper" product - i.e. a book on which the actual "ink" on the pages can be changed.
Many of the better known ebook and traditional publishers will be talking on various subjects too, including Rosetta Book's Leo Dwyer.
It's a big opportunity to shmooze with the ebook world.
>>Is anyone going to the NIST ebook conference on November 5th?
>>
>>I'm looking for someone to share a room - I have a reservation at the Marriot. If anyone will be in DC on the nights of the 4th and 5th (for this or any other reason) and is interested in sharing, please let me know.

>>Thanks
