Hi Craig,
I found an inconsistency in
http://www.black-beans.com.br/foxprohistory/peoplethatmadehistory.htm when describing Jeb Long's and Wayne Ratliff short bio, related to dBASE.
At
Jeb's you can read:
"...he developed a file management program called JPLDIS written in FORTRAN, running in a UNIVAC 1108 mainframe ... JPLDIS was the precursor of dBASE, that runs in CP/M microcomputers ... Latter with Wayne Ratliff, Jeb Long translated..."At
Wayne's you can read:
"He originally wrote a database program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Passadena, California. He called it Vulcan ... and then met up with George Tate and others and Ashton-Tate was born."Are JPLDIS and Vulcan the same thing with 2 different names? Jeb and Wayne developed that/those program(s) together? Jeb and Wayne joined George Tate to form Ashton-Tate?
Could you help me here dismissing this (aparent) confusion?
Found it very interesting to know what you wrote:
"Note there was never anyone named Ashton, it sounded better.".
Thanks in advance,
Fernando
PS. If you think it is more adequate, from now on I can post questions in the wiki, in order not to bother people with messages.
