Gerard,
Since some of the new developer efficiency features such as Intellisense are so useful, you can upgrade to VFP7 for your development, then rebuild in VFP6 for distribution if you are not yet ready to redistribute the new runtimes.
You can't use the new database events or some of the new menu features if you straddle the fence this way, but you'll still benefit. Each version installs to a different directory by default so you can easily have both on the same machine.
