environment: Novell ver 4.80 20000017; Local: win2000 with local user login;
software: visual studio 6, VC++6

Student creates a very simple win32 console program including iostream.h only. When the student hits the 'build' button, the compile process starts then the fatal error occurs:
fatal error c1083: cannot open source file:'H\\.cpp': no such file or directory)

This problem occurs sporadically and not with all users. Each machine will vary We are in an educational environment so all students are 'building' simultaneously (watch & do) so I have not ruled out network traffic. The problem did not occur last year in Win98. We are also having similar problems Vis FoxPro 6 and WORD, no problems in VB6

Our techies are stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated
