The answer depends.
Postgresql has more features, as detailed out by Jerry, however, if you are working a multi platform enviroment, and you want to run Postgresql on a windows machine, it really cant be done.
If you need transctions or stored proceedures now use Postgresql,
If you need to test your applications with a sql type server running in a windows enviroment select Mysql.
VFP works as great a frontend too to either of these backend server using ODBC.
